Why we hand every borehole over
Maintenance committees, not contractors, are the reason our water points still run years later.
A borehole is easy to drill and easy to abandon. What keeps water running is a committee with a spare-parts fund and someone trained to use a spanner.
Every water point we build is handed to a local committee within ninety days, with training, a toolkit and a small maintenance grant.
