The first hour after a child speaks up shapes everything that follows. A calm adult, a quiet room and a written note are often more useful than any formal process.
Our safeguarding officers are trained to listen without questioning the child's account, to record only what was said, and to bring in the family and the authorities in the right order.
Children who are believed and supported recover far better than children who are doubted.
